News and Events

Our website is the best way to get in-depth information, but the best way to keep up with the latest FOS and shelter news is to "like" our Facebook page or join our e-mail list

Below are statistics that show some of the ways that Friends of the Shelter has worked to meet our goals during 2019.

The Spay/Neuter Assistance Program provides low cost or free spay/neuter surgery for low income residents of Bell County.

           44 male dogs neutered

           39 male cats neutered

         101 female cats spayed

         114 female dogs spayed

FOS Food Program provided 1200 bags of pet food to low income families.

Friends of the Shelter provided Kind News ( a children’s publication 3 times a year by the Humane Society of the United States) to 26 classrooms in Bell County in 2019.

Friends of the Shelter provided pre-adoption and pre-transfer vaccinations to 1425 shelter pets.  We assisted in transferring many of these pets to no-kill shelters and rescue groups. We also provide photos and info on adoptable pets at the Shelter

Upcoming events and activities are listed in the FOS Calendar, along with specific needs for volunteers. This is updated regularly so check back often!

The FOS Newsletter, Focus On Friends, is published three/year, but is always

available on the website or by request.
