Bell County Animal Shelter
"We can judge the heart of a man
by his treatment of animals."

- Immanuel Kant

The Bell County Animal Shelter is funded by the county to provide care for homeless or stray animals.  At this time, the shelter has no facilities to hold cats, and a five-day legally required holding period for stray dogs over 6 months of age..  Approximately 97% of animals taken to the shelter in 2002 and 2003 are euthanized.  Animal control is the primary goal.

Here is Shelter information, including a map, staffing and hours, and instructions for going to the shelter to drop off an animal or trying to adopt.

If you have a dog or cat that needs to go the shelter, here is some advice, some options, and some instructions.

Do you need a pet that needs you? Here's how to adopt a dog from the shelter.
