Animal Rescue When FOS began, nobody imagined that some of the best destinations for homeless pets would be other places far away, where adoptable animals are in short supply thanks to successful spay/neuter programs. Since 2007, FOS has assisted our partners in making monthly trips to many shelters with Bell County dogs, including one in Queensbury, NY, a 16-hour drive. The no-kill shelter has frequent adoption days at Petsmart stores in the area and so can see as many as 30 adoptions in one day. FOS also works with the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley in Knoxville for rescues in Tennessee. Through Petfinder, Bell County animals have found homes in states as far away as California, and we are grateful for our dedicated cadre of volunteers who transport animals to these new homes.
